a toast of a post :)

Here's an ultra quick, late night post, just to share all the excitement and happiness :) Here's a warm welcome to my partner in crime. The Nikon D800 as captured by my tiny Nikon D3100.

Top Shot of my D800, on it is the Nikkor 70-300mm, my first Fx compatible lens.
And talking of Fx.

And that, my friends is a very useful dial :)

A lil' more showing off :)

Much, much thanks to @NitinPasricha for all the help. Here's to another beginning, of another fascination!
A final look at awesomeness.

Wedding Photography - SecondThoughts Essentials

With the ongoing wedding season and the number of mails I've received about the wedding photography packages I offer, I thought it would be a good idea to do a post on the same.

Choosing a wedding photographer can be a long process but mostly it's a confusing one! While you've got multiple options to choose from, you also have to make sure your requirements are met. In short, finalizing 'the photographer' for your big day seems to be quite a task, right? Well, not necessarily.

Here's an attempt to give you a glimpse of what's on offer at @secondthoughts.co depending on what you need :) And if not as quick, selecting the package* of your choice is at least as simple as choosing the right size of a cup of your favorite brew!

To learn more, drop in a mail at ananya@secondthoughts.co. You can also find me on twitter by this handle - @currymean

*WeddingPhotography packages start at Rs. 25,000.

and here's to Diwali :)

Light creates magic. Period.
So as Diwali is another day closer, I thought it would be quite apt to put this up on my blog.

While I might not believe in celebrating the festival of lights by bursting noisy crackers, I do love the fact that everything's bright and lit up :) The diyas, rangolis, colourful lights, everything just adds to the festivity.

So what you'll find below is my *ahem* tribute of sorts to this dazzling festival called Diwali.

The first four images are photographs of the Diwali decoration, here at my building.

The images you'll see below are street lights, captured from my room's balcony. I fell in love with my 35mm and light, all over again!

I'm hoping you'll have fun viewing these since I had quite a bit of fun while shooting :D And considering it's all festive all around, I'm in the mood to share the joy :)

So, happy viewing and a Happier Diwali! :)

when at work...play!

Lucky me! There's been a lot of shooting in the past month and a half :) Good days, bad days, always chaotic days. So, I guess a break from the routine does no harm right?

Which is why I decided that instead of posting images from all the product photography I did last month, I'll start off with some behind the scenes fun first!

With my friend turned model  @IshitaMisra

We were pretty much trying everything under the sun and when I say 'under the sun' I mean it!

From being the jumping jack to hanging upside down to body art (!), there's really very little that my very enthu model didn't do!

umm,  okay so it's not quite art but you got the point!

While all the images in this post are only from the first day of the project, it was by far the most fun and least stressful day! All thanks to my friend here, who also happens to be a photographer herself. So, cheers to Miss Craziness, Ishita :) I love you!

It's your day! - Weddings and Photography

I really don't need to tell you how special your wedding is. After all, you don't get married every year (or at least so I hope!), right? The most awesome part about your wedding though is the atmosphere.
It's mostly crazy, chaotic, maddening and almost every other synonym of an absolute jumble that you can come up with. As an upcoming wedding photographer, I get to experience this complete confusion first hand. And I'm not complaining :)

To capture, then, the essence of a marriage - the togetherness; the bond, becomes even more challenging. But as a photographer that's what I crave for.
To bring together the madness and the romance :)

I must say I was blessed to have a super fun and excited couple for my first wedding assignment.

my first couple :) Shraddha and Suvodip at their pre-wedding shoot.

One thing I learnt from my 'first couple' was the importance of having fun and a lot of it! I mean who doesn't like to have fun, right? The whole idea behind photographing your wedding is not just to document your big day but to take you back to all that fun you indulged in, all the preparations, the anxiety, the chaos, the excitement. Everything!

So, as the season of excitement and madness begins, give a serious thought to having a hell lot of fun and adding some awesome imagery to your wedding day memories! :)

Sis' Birthday!

Aren't memories fascinating? Every little thing we remember, completes us. For me, memories have always had a positive connotation (not too surprising, considering I'm a photographer).

So, on my sister's birthday this year, my mom and I thought that a gorgeous scrapbook, with funny and even more funny memories from her childhood, would be a perfect birthday present. Of course, we did end up gifting her many more things but that's not the point! :)

Of course, I had to photograph it. The pretty thing!
Here's a page from the scrapbook with photographs of my sister as a baby :)
My only problem with the book is that it isn't a lay flat. Otherwise totally adore the cover.

Above and below: The birthday girl goes through  the scrapbook.

To personalize it further, I did write her a poem but well, I'm not sure that's really worth a mention. Here's a photograph as proof though.

While I'm hoping this was her favorite gift, it surely was mine. In fact, so much did I fall in love with the bright green book that I'm planning on taking up scrapbooking as a serious hobby!

A little about me

Using photography as a means to express and escape, I make photographs out of fleeting emotions, unmoved mountains, the sound of silence and the noise in city streets.
