Here's what's cooking!

So, I'll start off with a few awesome facts about me - I'm not a food photographer (yet!) and I'm not a food blogger. But wait! Before you get bored of all the things I'm not, here's what I am - a lover of food and photography :) Which is why, when I had a bit of stay-at-home time, a bit too much of it actually, I decided to bake the day away.

What did I bake and make? A yummy, my kinda "Gooey Choco Cake" (yea, that's what I call it) with some appetizing images for company.

This is how it all starts - I make chocolate from scratch, as seen below and thoroughly enjoy it!

Very soon and quite unexpectedly, I'm done making the rich, bitter chocolate syrup. I keep the syrup in the freezer and dutifully, move on to the next step.
Cake preps!

It's a simple chocolate cake that I want to create, so that means eggs, flour, cocoa, baking powder, white butter, condensed milk and a cup of water - all go into a mixing bowl!

And I whisk away! Whisk, whisk, whisk, till it looks something like this -

Phew!
After a lot of whisking, the batter seems ready and yummy. So, with a lil' help from my mother, I decide it's time to take it to the oven. That's like almost an hour's wait before I get to see my poor little cake. Gosh!

So, I wait. In fact, everyone at home does. All of us, anxious and making frequent visits to the kitchen.
Ting! In case the sound effect didn't make it evident, what I'm trying to tell you is that my cake was ready! (yay!)

With tears of joy, I rush to grab my camera. It's time, I say.

Okay, okay...it's not perfect but not bad for a beginner, yea? Oh, and you remember that chocolate syrup I made? Well, this is where it's put to use.

I swear it tasted so much better than I'd expected. It tasted like an actual cake, for starters! Okay, jokes apart, I think all the effort really paid off, it was fun and yummy fun. Which is basically my kind of fun :)

A little about me

Using photography as a means to express and escape, I make photographs out of fleeting emotions, unmoved mountains, the sound of silence and the noise in city streets.

If you like what you see and wish to work with me or purchase any of my photographs, drop me a mail at workwithananya@gmail.com
